Overview

The dashboard started as a personal tool for reading noisy build logs. The goal was a single view that answers three questions quickly: did the last build pass, what failed, and is the failure new.

Role & contribution

Programmer

Implemented the parser, the summary view, and the failure grouping logic.

  • Built the log parser and summary view.
  • Kept the tool dependency-light so it stays easy to run.

Tools

TypeScriptNode.js

Process

Started from an existing pain point, shipped the smallest useful version, then added grouping once the format stabilised.

Challenges & solutions

Log formats drifted between build steps.

Added a tolerant parser with explicit fallbacks instead of strict schemas.

Outcome

Working prototype that shortens the time needed to spot a broken build.
